How I Treat
After an initial assessement, we will discuss the best course of treatment, using evidence-based approaches most suitable and tailored for your needs. Some of the treatment modalities I specialize in are:
DBT
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapy focused on helping you manage emotions, cope with stress, and improve relationships. You'll learn mindfulness to stay present, emotion regulation to manage feelings, interpersonal skills for healthier relationships, and distress tolerance for handling difficult situations. DBT has shown effectiveness in treating various mental health concerns and can lead to improved well-being and relationships.
CBT
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. It teaches how to recognize unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with more realistic and positive ones. In CBT, you'll learn practical coping skills and tools needed to face challenges, feel better, and overcome difficulties. CBT has been shown to be effective for a wide variety of mental health disorders, including anxiety and depression.
ACT
Acceptence commitment therapy (ACT) is a type of therapy that helps you accept difficult thoughts and feelings, while committing to actions that align with your values. It teaches you mindfulness skills to stay present in the moment and connect with what truly matters to you. With ACT, you'll learn to let go of trying to control your thoughts and emotions, and instead focus on taking meaningful steps toward a rich and fulfilling life. By cultivating psychological flexibility - you'll gain the ability to adapt to life's ups and downs with openness and resilience.
TF-CBT
Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) focuses on addressing the distressing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors resulting from traumatic experiences. These techniques involve identifying and challenging negative beliefs about trauma and oneself, gradually confronting traumatic memories through exposure therapy, and learning relaxation techniques to manage distress. Additionally, therapy may include skill building in areas like emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness to help individuals cope with their symptoms effectively. Overall, these evidence-based approaches aim to empower individuals to process their trauma, develop healthier coping strategies, and improve their overall well-being.

The "No Surprises" Act (effective January 1st, 2022) requires health care providers to provide current and new patients who are uninsured or self-pay with a "Good Faith Estimate" (GFE) of cost for treatment. This regulation attempts to provide patients with transparency regarding their health care costs. While therapy presents a unique circumstance for estimating costs due to variable factors (length of therapy, cancellations, etc.), Dr. Chimes can provide a GFE as needed.
